Coming in at 6 miles round trip, the trailhead for South Fortuna picks up in the Jackson Drive overflow parking lot, right before the main entrance to Mission Trails Regional Park.
Alternately, you can park in the Visitor Center’s parking lot and walk a quarter mile along the Visitor Loop Trail (which picks up near the base of the driveway) to the Jackson Drive overflow parking lot.
The trail starts on a dirt path and takes you through shrubs and chaparral. At 0.85 miles, you may hear the sound of the San Diego River. We will meet the hikers in Mission Trails Jackson parking lot at 7:00 am and hit the trail at 7:15 am. For any questions regarding the hike please contact us at admin@aiap.org.
