Love in Ancient Literature

Love has been a most central theme of Persian literature for over a millennium, both in the classical and modern traditions, and has been expressed in Persian poetry through countless ways and a bewildering variety of styles. In his talk in AIAP San Diego, Professor Karimi-Hakkak will share with us his insights into the impressive variety and amazing diversity of manifestations of love in this literary tradition. 

Speaker: Ahmad Karimi-Hakkak

Dr. Ahmad Karimi-Hakkak is at present a retired Professor of Persian language, literature, and culture at the University of Maryland and a Visiting Professor at the UCLA. He has studied in Iran and the United States, received his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Rutgers University in 1979, and is the author, editor or translator of over twenty academic books and around one hundred and fifty research articles, some of which have been translated into other languages.  The study of language, literature and culture in their various sociopolitical contexts has always been at the center of his scholarly pursuits.

موضوع سخنرانى : عشق در ادبیات فارسی

عشق از مضامین اصلی ادبیات فارسی است و در شعر قدیم و جدید زبان فارسی به اشکال و روشهای بیانی گوناگون بسیاری صورت بیان گرفته است.  استاد کریمی حکاک در سخنرانی خود در سن دیگو نگرش خود را در چگونگی تنوع بیان مضمون عشق در شعر فارسی و مهم ترین جلوه های آن در اعصار متفاوت با ما در میان خواهد گذاشت.  

درباره سخنران:  دکتر احمد کریمی حکاک در حال حاضر استاد بازنشسته کرسی زبان و فرهنگ ایرانیوادبیات فارسی دانشگاه مریلند و نیز استاد میهمان دانشگاه یو سی ال ا است؛ در ایران وآمریکا تحصیل کرده و درجۀ دکتری خود را در ادبیات تطبیقی در سال 1979 از دانشگاه راتگرز دریافت داشته است. احمد کریمی حکاک با پیشینۀ پنجاه سال تدریس و تحقیق، مؤلف و مترجم بیش از بیست کتاب علمی و حدود یکصد وپنجاه مقالۀ پژوهشی است که بعضی از آنها به زبانهای دیگر نیز ترجمه شده اند. بررسی ادبیات در متن جوامع بشری و بربستر تعامل گروههای گوناگون اجتماعی پیوسته گرانیگاه فعالیتهای علمی او بوده است.
