بحران اقتصادی در هر کشوری که گسترده بشود، شالوده های حقوق بشر را متزلزل می کند. بحران اقتصادی به ابتدایی ترین حقوق بنیادی انسان ها که حق برخورداری از رفاه و شغل و تحصیلات رایگان و امکانات بهداشتی و درمانی است، حمله ور می شود. بدیهی است شهروندان و به خصوص طبقه متوسط پایین و فرودستان، از آن زیان می بینند. اما پیامد و تبعات آن، زنان و کودکان را به شدت تحت تاثیر قرار می دهد

زنان در شرایط بحران های اقتصادی، از یک طرف درآمد زایی شوهران خود را از دست می دهند، از سوی دیگر بازار کار که حتی پیش از بحران اقتصادی در برابرشان چندان گشوده نبوده، بیشتر بسته می شود. "زنان تنها" در کشوری با ویژگی های سیاسی ایران امروز بیشتر صدمه می بینند

موضوع مورد بحث در سخنرانی خانم مهرانگیز کار، بررسی آثار بحران اقتصادی کنونی و سوء مدیریت اقتصادی حاکمان در زندگی زنان و کودکان ایرانی است. پیش از آن باید روشن کنیم که چرا اعلام نگرانی در باره  فقر و بیکاری زنان یک اولویت غیر قابل تردید است

About The Speakers: 

Mehrangiz Kar: was born in 1944 in the southern Iranian city of Ahvaz, Iran. She attended elementary, middle and high school in Ahvaz, leaving in 1963 to enter the Department of Law and Political Science at Tehran University. Kar is a prominent Iranian lawyer, and a celebrated human rights activist, lawyer and writer in Iran.

She has also been recognized as a Scholar at Risk through an international network of universities and colleges working to promote academic freedom and to defend the human rights of scholars worldwide. She currently works in Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women in Brown University.

Sara Safari: is an author, speaker, mountain climber, college professor and advocate for women empowerment. Three years ago, she decided to climb and summit Mt. Everest (29000ft) to bring funds and awareness for the girls who become victims of human trafficking or are forced into early marriage. Last year, during the devastating 7.8 earthquake that hit Nepal, she survived the avalanches on Mt. Everest and came back down to help the victims and families, 10,000 of whom lost their lives and 100,000 kids lost their homes. She received the award for The Global Citizen from United Nations Association in 2015. She recently published her book and dedicated it to the Nepali girls.
