The AIAP March hike will be at Anza-Borrego Desert on Saturday 03/25/06. It's the best time for wild flower viewing. This is an approximately one hour drive from North County Mall. The hike is 5.5 miles and takes approximately four hours. We will meet the hikers at 7:45 a.m. in North County Shopping Mall (In front of Sears) and will carpool to Anza Borrego at 8.00 a.m. Please bring water and hiking Boot. Wildflowers usually begin blooming in January and reach their peak in March. The success of each year's wildflower bloom is dependent on a variety of factors, including rainfall, temperature and winds. There is fantastic blue skies with wisps of white clouds and temperatures in the 70's. The flowers are responding to this glorious weather as are the birds, butterflies and bees. Even the cottonwoods in the Cienega canyon are coming out in spring green leaves. For more info you can visit:
