         AIAP April Hiking  



    Santa Rosa Plateau in Murrieta, CA.


    The AIAP's April hike will be at Santa Rosa Plateau in Murrieta. AIAP members have rated this hike as the best of the year!

    When: Sunday, April 21, 2024 

    Time to Meet: We will meet at 7:45am in North County Shopping Mall (In front of Macy's Coordinates:  33.0706476, -117.0678999) and will carpool to Santa Rosa at 8:00am. Directions to North County Mall: Take I-15 North, exit on Via Rancho Parkway, Go straight to the parking lot and lets meet in front of Macy’s.  

    The Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve Santa Rosa Parkis located at the southern end of the Santa Ana Mountains in southwest Riverside County, near the city of Murrieta. The Reserve consists of 9000 acres. The land has been set aside to protect unique ecosystems like Engelmann oak woodlands, riparian wetlands, coastal sage scrub, chaparral, bunchgrass prairie, vernal pools and more than 200 species of native birds and 49 endangered, threatened or rare animal and plant species, including mule deer, mountain lions, badgers, bobcats, western pond turtles, white-tailed kites and fairy shrimp. 
    It is an approximate 45 minutes drive from North County Mall. The hike is about 7-miles round trip, easy-moderate level, and takes nearly 3.5 hours.  Optionally, we can extend the hike via Punta Mesa Trail and Monument Hill Road. This adds about 3.0 miles to the hike. 

    If you would like to drive to Santa Rosa, the address is: 39400 Clinton Keith Road, Murrieta, CA 92562. Coordinates: (33.52715, -117.28417).  Please pass the visitor center, stay on Clinton Keith Rd (then Tenaja Rd) to see the parking lot on your left side coordinates 33.527096, -117.283991) hidden Valley trailhead. We’ll start hiking from the parking lot at the Hidden Valley Trail Head, not from the visitor center.

    Please bring water, snacks, and wear comfortable hiking shoes.

    Topic: Psychological Foundation of a Dictator

    About the speakers:

     Dr. Nehzat Farnoody, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a Specialty in Cross-Cultural Psychology. Dr. Farnoody received her undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Iran. In 1969 she was accepted to the Masters program in Clinical Psychology at Kansas University and immigrated to the United States with her family.

    Dr. Farnoody has provided over 20 years of community service here in Los Angeles, in an effort to raise awareness on Mental Health, and has hosted several Media Literacy programs in helping families cope with cross-cultural conflicts. From 1989 to 1992 Dr. Farnoody hosted the first Iranian-American Radio and TV program on psychological topics related to the needs of the Iranian-American community. From 1995 to 2001 she hosted several Radio and TV psychology media literacy programs and since 2002, has been the host of a popular satellite TV Talk Show called, “Inner Sight (Negahi be Daroon)” on American Farsi Network (www.AFNL.com) where she has an opportunity to reach out, educate, and raise awareness on Mental Health and psychological principles of parenting and healthy families for the Iranian-Americans, as well as the Iranians living in the global community.

    Dr. Farnoody has presented at over 200 seminars, conferences, and lectures on psychological and sociocultural topics such as: Successful Relationships, Parenting, Healthy Families, Healthy Societies, The Psychology of Democracy, Psychology of Love, Emotional Intelligence, and several other topics (see seminars). Since 1986 Dr. Farnoody has been a guest lecturer to prestigious Universities such Brown University, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, John Hopkins University, and several others

AIAP is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Membership fees, sponsorships and your generous donations are the only supporting fund AIAP receives. Please support your own organization, for a small annual fee, by renewing your membership or becoming a new member. New memberships and renewals are valid through December 31, 2024.
