Millions of people in the United States suffer from some form of mood disorder with depression being one of its components. Regardless of age, gender, and ethnicity anyone can be vulnerable to this depilating disease. Unfortunately, only a fraction of sufferers seek treatment. This disease adversely affects the daily functions of one's job, relationships, school activities, and other aspects of daily life.

The February AIAP meeting speakers, Dr. Cyrus Nakhshab & Dr. Ramin Shahla will focus their speech on the origin and types of depression. They will also explain about treatments such as psychotherapy and medication, and how to deal with this disease.

Dr. Cyrus Nakhshab has earned his B.S. degree in chemistry and his M.S. degree in behavioral science from California State University in Dominguez Hills. He has received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology and an Ed.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. He has been the lead psychologist for Ramona Unified School District for eighteen years. Dr. Cyrus Nakhshab has been a private practitioner and the director of San Diego Psychological and Educational Services for the past ten years.

Dr. Ramin Shahla has completed his medical school in Turkey and his training as in psychiatry at Universities of Maryland and Louisiana. Currently he practices in a private clinic in Carmel Valley/Del Mar area.
